Yesterday: U.S. indexes finished higher Tuesday, with the S&P 500 notching its first-ever close above 7,600 and the Dow up more than 200 points, as strength in semiconductor and tech outweighed geopolitical concerns. Marvell Technology soared after receiving a strong endorsement from Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, and Hewlett Packard surged as well after strong earnings and outlook. Meanwhile, shares of Alphabet fell after the company announced a major capital raise, and economic data points to continued labor market resilience, with April job openings rising to 7.6 million — the most in nearly a year. Lastly, oil prices extended recent gains as tensions between the U.S. and Iran worsen, with crude moving closer back to triple digits due to continued supply disruptions.

On Our Radar: Looking ahead, Wall Street will be paying attention to the Fed Beige Book, Global Services PMI, and Factory Orders for fresh insights on the economy. On the earnings front, all eyes will be on Lululemon (LULU), and DocuSign (DOCU) which report after the market close tomorrow.

MARKET HEATMAP

Marvell (MRVL) and Hewlett Packard (HPE) helped power the indexes to new all-time highs as shares soared more than 20% each with Coherent (COHR), Lumentum (LITE), and Corning (GLW) all climbing double-digits as well. Meanwhile, The Trade Desk (TTD), Intuit (INTU), and Carvana (CVNA) were among the day’s top laggards. But those weren’t the only companies making big moves. Here’s a look at some of the biggest winners and losers on Tuesday.
