Yesterday: U.S. indexes finished higher Monday, with the Dow closing above 52,000 for the first time as investors kicked off a holiday shortened week on a positive note. The rally was led in part by Alphabet, which surged nearly 5% in its debut as a new Dow member. Oil prices rebounded slightly after last week's sharp decline, as easing tensions between the U.S. and Iran reduced concerns about a broader geopolitical escalation. Meanwhile, Comcast announced plans to separate its media assets, including NBCUniversal and Sky, from its cable and broadband business, creating a new publicly traded company.
On Our Radar: Wall Street will be paying attention to consumer confidence and the S&P Case-Shiller Home Price Index for fresh clues on the strength of the U.S. consumer, the housing market, and the broader economy. On the earnings front, all eyes will be on Constellation Brands (STZ) which will report after the market close today.
