Sportradar’s (SRAD) acquisition of IMG ARENA and its global sports betting rights portfolio has officially closed. That’s a big deal for the company aiming to revolutionize sports fandom and betting by melding technology and cutting-edge analytics.
Following the acquisition, Sportradar estimates its sports coverage will total more than 1 million matches annually. What’s more, the deal bolsters Sportradar’s content and product offering in popular betting areas of sports, including tennis, soccer and basketball, and marks a "significant" milestone.
Plus, as an illustration of Sportradar’s disciplined M&A process and rigorous return profile, they ended up not paying anything in the deal. Instead, over the course of a year Sportradar negotiated an agreement which involved about $122 million in cash prepayments by the seller to certain sports rights holders and approximately $103 million to Sportradar. Yesterday: U.S. indexes opened December on negative note as all three all three major indexes snapping five-day winning streaks and finished near the lows on the day. The move was a bit surprising as support and expectations of rate cut next week continues to climb with the market pricing in an 88% chance of a quarter point reduction. Cryptocurrency wasn’t spared either as Bitcoin, Ethereum and XRP all tanked, making last week’s bounce look more like a relief rally than a sustainable move. The good news is that technical indicators remain positive, with the S&P 500 still above its 50-day moving average and market breadth improving. Lastly, President Trump signaled he has a preferred candidate to succeed Jerome Powell as Fed chair, with many expecting Kevin Hassett to be the pick.

MARKET HISTORY
On This Day In 1980…
Nike went public at $22 per share, marking the beginning of one of the most successful long-term growth stories in U.S. market history. At the time, the company was still a fast-rising athletic-footwear brand, but its IPO laid the financial foundation for global expansion, high-profile athlete endorsements, and the transformation into a dominant force in sports and lifestyle apparel. As of today, the company has a market cap of $100 billion, although it is down significantly from its peak ($275 billion) in 2021.
