🍪 Buffett's Breakfast Buffet

Warren Buffett ate an interesting breakfast at Bill Gates' house, an extreme long shot gamble for the Super Bowl and more

Happy Friday Zingernation! You might see some headlines talking about how the Super Bowl half-time performer doesn’t get paid. And it’s true that the NFL won’t cut Usher a big check for his performance, but he actually will make a few bucks.

Usher will get paid at “union scale” as a member of the Screen Actors Guild which means he’ll get paid around $1,000 a day for the rehearsal and performance. Getting $1,000 for a Super Bowl concert sounds like someone trying to pay you in Trident Layer gum for mowing their lawn.

MARKET SNAPSHOT

Yesterday: All major indices closed slightly in the green. The S&P 500 is flirting with the 5,000 level for the second day in a row. I’m starting to think Mr. Market has a crush.

On Our Radar: CPI seasonal factors revision came out at 8:30 am ET and then we will hear from Dallas Fed President Lorie Logan.

Briefly: One bettor at Caesars Sportsbook bet $100 on the Kansas City Chiefs scoring exactly two points during Super Bowl LVIII, according to a report from the New York Post.

Basically: The bet has odds of 10,000 to 1, which means the bet would post a profit of $1 million if this is the correct outcome.

Out There: It’s a whacky wager. After all, the Chiefs averaged 21.8 points per game during the regular season and 23.3 points per game in the postseason.

Safety First: The 49ers have been praised for their defense and allowed 17.5 points per game in the regular season. In the NFL Playoffs, the 49ers allowed 21 points and 31 points in their two games, for an average of 26 points allowed per game.

ONE FOR THE ROAD

Briefly: You know when you sleep over at a friend’s house and end up raiding their pantry for all the junk food you can find? Turns out billionaires aren’t much different from us.

Quoted: “One thing that was surprising to learn about Warren is that he has basically stuck to eating what he liked when he was 6 years old,” Gates wrote. “He did move past baby food, of course, but he mostly eats hamburgers, ice cream and Coke.”

The Details: Gates said he caught Buffett eating Oreos in the morning when he crashed at the Gates household. Bill’s kids even asked for Oreos after seeing “Uncle Warren” eating them.
