Amazon replaces Walgreens in the Dow Industrial Average, investors await NVIDIA's report, Apple's leadership gets a shakeup and more

Happy Wednesday Zingers! It’s always nice when a pilot can cut a couple of minutes off their expected flight time. But, like most good things, speeding in the air is best done in moderation.

Recently a few international flights got caught in 260 MPH winds that propelled the planes to more than 800 MPH, breaking the speed of sound. Some videos of the flights are going around - I think I’ll be just fine with going a normal speed on my next flight and being a few minutes late, thank you very much.

Briefly: Amazon shares traded higher in Tuesday’s after-hours session after the company was selected to replace Walgreens within the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA).

What Happened: In a new press release issued Tuesday, S&P Dow Jones Indices announced that Amazon will replace Walgreens in the DJIA, effective before the market opens on Feb. 26. Amazon shares rose 1.20% after-hours following the announcement.

A Change-Up: Walmart’s 3:1 split announcement prompted this change. Walmart’s index weighting will be reduced, but the company will remain in the DJIA. Adding in Amazon will increase consumer retail exposure in the Dow.

Anything Else? S&P Dow Jones Indices also announced that Uber will replace JetBlue Airways in the Dow Jones Transportation Average to help the index gain exposure to the ride-sharing industry.
