In Short: ChatGPT parent OpenAI is reportedly set to announce its AI-powered search product on Monday, potentially intensifying its rivalry with Alphabet’s Google.

The Timing: The announcement is subject to change and it might coincide with the day preceding Google’s annual I/O conference, scheduled for Tuesday. Google is anticipated to reveal numerous AI-related products during the conference, reported Reuters.

Zooming In: Previously, it was reported that OpenAI’s search product is an extension of the company’s AI-powered chatbot, ChatGPT, and allows it to directly pull information from the web and include citations.

Why It Matters: OpenAI’s move to develop a web search tool was first reported in February. At the time it was reported that OpenAI was taking assistance from Bing to work on a web search tool aimed at offering direct competition to Google.

Basically: Electric vehicle leader Tesla began delivering its highly anticipated Cybertruck pickup truck in November. One potentially wealthy Russian recently attempted to smuggle two of the cars into Russia.

Some Context: The Cybertruck remains in high demand among many Tesla fans with some individuals even buying reservation places in line to get the vehicle on eBay. The vehicle is only available in the U.S. and has a long waiting list.

The Details: While consumers might be willing to pay extra to get their hands on a Cybertruck, one potentially wealthy Russian took it a bit further and attempted to smuggle two Cybertrucks into the country. The Lithuanian customs office shared that it detained two Cybertrucks at a checkpoint bordering Lithuania and Belarus. As shared via a Facebook video, the customs office believes the vehicles may have been headed to Russia.

Why It Matters: While the Cybertruck is not for sale in Europe, Tesla will be doing a marketing tour of the vehicle in May and June.
