Yesterday: U.S. indexes finished higher Wednesday in the holiday-shortened week, extending Tuesday’s strong gains as improving geopolitical sentiment and upbeat economic data supported investor confidence. Markets were lifted by comments from President Trump who said the conflict with Iran could de-escalate within weeks, easing concerns about prolonged instability. Economic data also came in stronger than expected, with February retail sales rising 0.6% month-over-month, marking the fastest pace since mid-2025, while private payroll growth of 62,000 exceeded forecasts, pointing to a stabilizing labor market. The combination of resilient consumer activity and steady hiring reinforced optimism about the economic outlook.

On Our Radar: Analysts will be paying attention to today’s initial jobless claims and the U.S. trade deficit report for a read on labor market strength and broader economic momentum.
