MARKET RECAP

Last Week: Stocks finished higher Friday as stronger-than-expected April jobs data lifted investor sentiment, despite downward revisions to prior months. The S&P 500 marked its ninth consecutive day of gains — its longest winning streak since November 2004 — and has now fully recovered its losses since April 2, when President Donald Trump announced reciprocal tariffs. This comes a day after the Nasdaq accomplished that same feat. Treasury yields climbed, with the 10-year yield rising to 4.31%, while the U.S. dollar weakened against major currencies. Nonfarm payrolls rose by 177,000, surpassing forecasts, while the unemployment rate held steady at 4.2%.

On Our Radar: Analysts will be closely watching the ISM Services Index — due later this morning — for signs of resilience or weakness in the service sector. On the earnings front, Palantir, Ford, and Hims and Hers Health will headline a slate of major earnings reports that will be released after hours today.

That’s where Benzinga comes in. We cut through the noise, analyze the data and highlight stocks that warrant your attention. Here’s one of five standout picks from this week’s Stock Whisper Index that should be on your radar.

Wheaton Precious Metals (WPM): Precious metal and gold stocks continue to see increase interest from Benzinga readers and this week's article highlights Wheaton Precious Metals. The company's stock is near 52-week highs, but could head higher with continued record highs for gold and upcoming financial results from the company. Analysts expect the company to report first-quarter earnings per share of 50 cents on May 8. The company has beaten analyst estimates for earnings per share in four of the last five quarters. Analysts expect the company to report quarterly revenue of $436.5 million, up from $296.8 million in last year's first quarter. The company has missed analyst estimates for revenue in three straight quarters and seven of the last 10 quarters overall. A turnaround in revenue and another beat in earnings per share could strengthen the bullish case for the stock. Several analysts have upgraded the stock’s price targets ahead of earnings.

Shares of Wheaton Precious Metals were down slightly last week, however, shares are up over 50% in the past year.
